Autism Teaching Assistant – Croydon

 

If you are a proactive, intuitive Teaching Assistant who can boost the engagement and motivation of Primary-aged children with SEND, our partner school in Croydon would love to talk to you about their current Autism Teaching Assistant opportunity!

 

Joining a school that is renowned to its dedication to inclusivity, this Autism Teaching Assistant role will see you joining a wonderful school community and involve you providing specialist support to two children with ASC.

 

The SENCO is particularly keen to receive applications from aspiring Primary Teachers so if you are looking for practical experience of working in a Primary School before applying for a PGCE, this role would be an excellent fit for you.

 

Autism Teaching Assistant – Job Role

  • Autism Teaching Assistant role commencing September 2024
  • Mainstream Primary School based locally to Thornton Heath, Croydon
  • September 2024-July 2025 [opportunities for permanent contracts from September 2025]
  • £95-£100 per day | Paid PAYE on a weekly basis
  • Working closely with two children with ASC
  • Providing 1:1 support inside and outside of the classroom
  • Helping pupils to remain focused and engaged with class
  • Dealing with challenging and resistant behaviour calmly and confidently

 

Autism Teaching Assistant – Job requirements

  • Minimum of a 2:1 degree ideally within Education/Early Childhood/Psychology/SEN
  • Strong academic record at A-Level and GCSE
  • Previous child-centred experience with the 4-11 age range (specific experience supporting children with ASC advantageous)
  • Applications from aspiring Primary Teachers will be favourable
  • Confident, quick-thinking, proactive and enthusiastic mindset required
  • A good sense of humour and the patience and resilience to overcome challenging moments calmly and in a professional manner
  • A love of education and the desire to positively impact the lives of others
