Facilities Assistant | Kingston Upon Thames
We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Assistant vacancy at a top school based in Kingston Upon Thames.
Facilities Assistant needed to assist and support the Facilities Manager regarding the daily preparation and maintenance of the whole school site. Facilities Assistant role Summary:
- School with a lovely site in Kingston Upon Thames, London.
- Facilities Assistant Salary £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday (5:45am-1:30pm and 12:30pm-8:15pm).
- Experience in caretaking required.
- School Caretaker job start date: ASAP.

Facilities Assistant responsibilities include:
- Lock/unlock school buildings and areas in the mornings and evenings.
- Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks.
- Operate and maintain heating plant and lighting systems.
- Organise and carry out various maintenance duties to ensure that the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises is satisfactory.28
- Daily routines to include litter picks internally and externally after break and lunch to ensure the building and site is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. All paved areas to be kept clean, tidy and litter free.
- Carry out routine Health & Safety checks as required – e.g. legionella testing, fire alarms, emergency lighting etc.
- Respond quickly and pro-actively manage faults recorded on the school portal. Identify defects and record repair and maintenance requirements liaising with contractors where necessary.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
The Facilities Assistant will need to be an excellent communicator, have strong written and record-keeping skills, be physically fit and be able to respond to emergencies occurring outside normal working hours.
