A high-achieving Secondary School in Merton are looking to set up interviews with History Academic Mentors who can confidently support students across Years 7-11 from September.

Initially offering one-year contracts, this History Academic Mentor role will prove to be the perfect stepping stone for aspiring History Teachers. It is also ideal for a History Graduate who is looking for a positive way to utilise their subject knowledge and ‘give back’ and positively impact their local community.

History Graduates who are passionate about education and hold a 2:1 or higher degree from a top UK University are encouraged to apply.

• Successful, high achieving Secondary School in Merton
• £18,750-£20,000 per annum
• September 2024-July 2025 [initial year-long contract]
• Supporting Years 7-11 within History lessons
• Leading 1:1 tutoring sessions
• Delivering small group intervention sessions
• Helping students feel prepared for GCSE exams

We are looking for assured, ambitious and enthusiastic History Graduates to work as an Academic Mentor within History. Students at this school are very well behaved and attentive in their studies, they have high expectations for themselves and are fully engaged with school life.

As the new History Academic Mentor, you will be given your own classroom to tutor small groups of students across Years 7-11. These intervention groups will be decided by the Head of Department for History and will consist of students who have been identified as needing additional support.

This History Academic Mentor role would perfectly suit a History Graduate who is considering a career within History Teaching but wants to gain a solid amount of school experience before applying for Teacher Training.
