KS1 Teaching Assistant (Autism) – Croydon
We are looking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support children within a Year 1 Class who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
You will be working closely with a girl in Year 1 who becomes easily distracted and at times finds it difficult to regulate her emotions. There are two other pupils in the class with a diagnosis of ASC who you will be working with at various points throughout the school day.
Extensive support is available from the school’s wider SEN team and ASC training is available. There are plenty of resources available which the incoming Teaching Assistant can use to help the pupil to express their emotions.
KS1 Teaching Assistant (ASC) – Job Requirements
- 2:1 or higher degree grade and excellent A-Level and GCSE grades.
- Have a strong understanding of ASC and ideally have previous experience working in this field.
- Be dedicated and resilient and able to handle moments of challenge with a positive outlook.
- Be calm, patient and understanding and passionate about inclusive education.
- Enjoy making learning fun to inspire, motivate, engage and enthuse pupils.
- Be willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
- Be a team player and good communication skills.
- Graduates with aspirations of training as Psychologists/Counsellors/Wellbeing Practitioners would be well suited to this role.
