Maths Academic Mentor | Merton

A high-achieving Secondary School in Merton are looking to set up interviews with Maths Academic Mentors who can confidently support students within Maths across Years 7-11 from September.

Initially offering one-year contracts, this Maths Academic Mentor role will prove to be the perfect stepping stone for aspiring Maths Teachers. It is also ideal for a Maths Graduate who is looking for a positive way to utilise their subject knowledge and ‘give back’ and positively impact their local community.

Maths Graduates who are passionate about education and hold a 2:1 or higher Maths degree from a top UK University are encouraged to apply.

Maths Academic Mentor - Merton

• Successful, high achieving Secondary School in Merton
• £18,750-£20,000 per annum
• September 2024-July 2025 [initial year-long contract]
• Supporting Years 7-11 within Maths lessons
• Leading 1:1 Maths tutoring sessions
• Delivering small group Maths intervention sessions
• Helping students feel prepared for GCSE exams

We are looking for assured, ambitious and enthusiastic Maths Graduates to work as an Academic Mentor within Maths. Students at this school are very well behaved and attentive in their studies, they have high expectations for themselves and are fully engaged with school life.

As the new Maths Academic Mentor, you will be given your own classroom to tutor small groups of students across Years 7-11. These intervention groups will be decided by the Head of Department for Maths and will consist of students who have been identified as needing additional support. You will also support students in-class.

This Maths Academic Mentor role would perfectly suit a Maths Graduate who is considering a career within Maths Teaching but wants to gain a solid amount of school experience before applying for Teacher Training.
