PMLD Support Assistant
We are excited to offer an incredible opportunity for a dedicated PMLD Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Croydon. This role is specifically tailored to work with students aged 16-25 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), starting immediately and initially running until the end of the academic year.
The successful PMLD Support Assistant will be working in a specialist SEND provision which boasts an excellent range of facilities including its own Hydrotherapy Pool, Sensory Room, Outdoor Learning Space and Music Classroom.
PMLD Support Assistant | Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with PMLD, ensuring their individual needs are met
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and feeding as required, always maintaining dignity and respect
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and work closely with teachers and therapists to enhance students' learning experience
- Use a range of sensory and communication strategies to engage students in learning
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Support with classroom management and general school duties
PMLD Support Assistant | Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD or complex SEND
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic attitude
- The ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Manual Handling, Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Level 2 Adult Safeguarding
- Relevant Health & Social Care experience is desirable
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Confident and willing to support with personal care
- Willing to support with hydrotherapy and rebound therapy
