Ribbons & Reeves are actively seeking a calm and compassionate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of partner schools in Harrow. This school is a Primary School that educates children from Reception up to Year 6. The ideal Primary SEN Teaching Assistant candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and will provide inclusive and personalised assistance within a mainstream secondary school setting.
Primary SEN Teaching Assistant | About the role:
- A Primary SEN Teaching Assistant will work with individual students or small groups to provide tailored support and assistance with academic and social development
- Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), teachers, and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans
- A Primary SEN Teaching Assistant will create and maintain a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the diverse needs of students.
- Engage in positive relationships with students, offering patience, empathy, and understanding in all interactions
- Utilise a range of strategies to facilitate learning and engage students with different learning styles and abilities
- Contribute to the monitoring and tracking of student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and participating in review meetings.
- Prior experience in a SEN support role or a strong interest in working with students with diverse learning needs would be good for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
- A First Class degree from a Top University is mandatory for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
- A strong academic background before a Bachelor's Degree is essential for this role.
- A degree in Psychology or a related field is desirable for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
- Knowledge of SEN best practices and strategies for supporting students with additional needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, staff, and parents
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN
