Science Academic Mentor | Merton

 

A high-achieving Secondary School in Merton are looking to set up interviews with Science Academic Mentors who can confidently support students within Science across Years 7-11 from September.

 

Initially offering one-year contracts, this Science Academic Mentor role will prove to be the perfect stepping stone for aspiring Science Teachers. It is also ideal for a Science Graduate who is looking for a positive way to utilise their subject knowledge and ‘give back’ and positively impact their local community.

 

Science Graduates who are passionate about education and hold a 2:1 or higher Science degree from a top UK University are encouraged to apply. Chemistry, Physics and Biology specialists can all be considered.

 

Science Academic Mentor - Merton

  • Successful, high achieving Secondary School in Merton
  • £18,750-£20,000 per annum
  • September 2024-July 2025 [initial year-long contract]
  • Supporting Years 7-11 within Science lessons
  • Leading 1:1 tutoring sessions
  • Delivering small group intervention sessions
  • Helping students feel prepared for GCSE exams

 

We are looking for assured, ambitious and enthusiastic Science Graduates to work as an Academic Mentor within Science. Students at this school are very well behaved and attentive in their studies, they have high expectations for themselves and are fully engaged with school life.

 

As the new Science Academic Mentor, you will be given your own classroom to tutor small groups of students across Years 7-11. These intervention groups will be decided by the Head of Department for Science and will consist of students who have been identified as needing additional support. You will also support students in-class.

 

This Science Academic Mentor role would perfectly suit a Science Graduate who is considering a career within Science Teaching but wants to gain a solid amount of school experience before applying for Teacher Training.
