Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant | Newham | September 2024

Are you a Psychology graduate seeking firsthand experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? If so, this opportunity is just what you’re looking for!

  • Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists or Clinical Psychologists
  • One-on-one support to SEN children
  • Work with children presenting with Autism, Global Delay, and Speech & Language difficulties
  • One-year contract from September to July, term time only, £475 to £550 per week (inclusive of holiday entitlement)

We are seeking a Psychology graduate with a 1st Class Degree wanting to acquire more child-centred experience, particularly with vulnerable children requiring additional support.

In your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with children who are considered vulnerable. These children typically have Autism statements and may be non-verbal, necessitating prior experience in supporting such individuals.

Psychology graduates will benefit from comprehensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities offered by the school. Both internal and external training sessions are regularly conducted, including specialized manual handling training such as 'Team Teach' to equip you for challenging scenarios that may arise while working with vulnerable SEN children.

To apply for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, prior experience working with vulnerable children with complex needs is preferred. Interviews for this position will be conducted this month.
