About the role: As an SEND Teaching Assistant in Buckhurst Hill, Waltham Forest, London, you will provide crucial one-to-one support to a Year 10 student with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Your responsibilities as an SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 emotional and academic support to a Year 10 student with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. 
• Assist in lessons, ensuring the student remains engaged and motivated.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage positive development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to create a supportive learning environment.
• Act as a role model, promoting resilience and aspiration in education.

What you’ll need to succeed as an SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Minimum 2:1 Psychology Degree from a Top UK University.
• Previous experience working with secondary students with SEMH needs.
• Excellent patience, empathy, and communication skills.
• Passion for supporting young people with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
• A strong desire to progress within education and SEN support.
• Experience supporting secondary students with behavioural/SEMH needs.
• Experience working in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) or Alternative Provision (desirable)

Job specifics:

• Location: Buckhurst Hill, Waltham Forest, London
• Pay: £96-£100 daily via PAYE (including holiday pay)
• Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term until July 2025
• Start Date: ASAP
