SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD) | South London
We are proud to be working alongside an amazing independent school for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe sensory impairment and complex medial needs (PMLD).
Our partner school caters for children and young people from the age of 3-25 and takes a holistic and collaborative approach with their in-house teaching and learning, nursing and therapy teams.
All pupils are wheelchair users, are medically dependent and require support with personal care. Pupils have access to fantastic facilities including hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, onsite physiotherapists and registered nurses.
SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD) | Job Requirements
- Experience of supporting pupils with PMLD
- Confident and willing to support with personal care
- Willing to support with hydrotherapy and rebound therapy
- Good interpersonal and administration skills
- Creative and patient mindset with a keen eye for detail
- Manual Handling Training and Level 2 Safeguarding Training required (Ribbons & Reeves will provide information about both courses if you do not hold these certificates)
When you have sufficient experience, you will also be trained in Gastrostomies (learning how to feed a child through a tube), Medicines (learning how to ensure the children receive the correct medicine at the correct time) and Epilepsy (learning how to safely manage children who have seizures and what to do in an emergency). For all these duties you will a first-class induction and ongoing training from qualified professionals.
A Teaching Assistant job at this school is very different to that of a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream school.
