EAL Teaching Assistant – Croydon

Starting immediately, we are seeking an assured EAL Teaching Assistant who can provide dedicated support to a Romanian-speaking student with SEND needs in a mainstream secondary school in Croydon.

EAL Teaching Assistant | Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Romanian-speaking student with SEND needs, ensuring they can fully participate in lessons and school activities.
  • Assist the student with language acquisition, supporting their transition to speaking and understanding English in the classroom.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to implement strategies that address the student’s SEND requirements.
  • Create and adapt learning resources to help the student with both their EAL and SEND challenges.
  • Track and report on the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO to ensure their needs are met.
EAL Teaching Assistant | Essential Qualities:
  • Fluency in Romanian and English, with a strong understanding of both languages.
  • Previous experience in an EAL or SEND support role is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • A passion for working with children and helping them overcome language and learning barriers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
